INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS GHANA – ICAG

ICAG was established by an act of Parliament, Act 170 in 1963. It is the sole body charged with the regulation of the Accountancy profession in Ghana. Its members are the only persons recognized under the Companies Act 1963 (Act 179), for the purpose of audit of company accounts.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum SSSCE/WASSCE (six passes including English Language and Mathematics) or its equivalent and any other higher qualification acceptable to the institute.

THE CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF BANKERS (GHANA) – CIB (Gh)

The Institute serves as a professional body for banks and financial institutions with an aim to provide stimulus for the development of competent and more qualified human resources that will enable the banks to offer efficient and competitive services to meet modern-day sophisticated demands and satisfaction. Its course content and structure is streamlined along the requirements of Alliance of African Institutes of Bankers (AAIOB) for global recognition. CIB (Gh) is also a member of World Conference of Banking Institute (WCBI).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • SSSCE/WASSCE (3 credits in core subjects including English Language and Mathematics and 3 passes in electives with an aggregate not exceeding 24)
  • Recognized degrees (DBS, HND, BBA etc.) and professional qualifications (CIM, ICA, ACCA etc.)
  • 50% pass mark in Access Course organized by CIB (Gh)

Management accountants play a vital role in managing business opportunities. They inform the strategy and help secure the future of your business. CIMA prepares people for a career in business. It teaches skills for strategic advice, managing risk and making key decisions

EXAMINATION

The Professional qualification is made up of two types of computer based assessments:

  • 90 minute objective tests for each of the three subjects within each level - these are on demand and can be taken all year.
  • A three-hour case study when you have completed all objective tests and want to progress to the next level - these are available in four windows a year.
  • There are four windows a year when you can sit the case study exams (February / March; May; August and November). Within each window exams will be available for five days from Tuesday to Saturday.

The prime objective of the Institution is to train and educate post graduate students in the application of knowledge and skill in tax accounting. The tax accounting profession is accredited with the provision of professional judgment and advice to individuals and businesses on the impact both minor and major taxes. The Institute is governed by a council and headed by a President whose professorship is in accounting and tax.
